We all understand that one of the most common ways to lose weight is by following a strict diet and exercising, but if it is not working it could very well be that your so called healthy eating habits are affecting your weight loss goals. In fact, it could be that your diet is making you sick.

Food & Calories - The Right Fuel To Burn Fat

There's nothing wrong with cutting calories, but following a diet plan that is too restrictive can hinder weight loss and make you feel sick. Your body needs a certain amount of calories each day in order to have energy. If you aren't eating enough calories each day then your body won't burn fat as you need, too. This is why you will read and hear people say "don't skip meals while on a diet" or see meal plans where a certain amount of calories are permitted for each meal.

If you are used to eating 2500 calories of food (not so many snacks) and 2000 calories is too hard at first, then start by dropping in increments of 200 calories at a time. For example, if you are eating 2500 calories then drop to 2300 for a while (until you lose 20 pounds), then drop to 2100 calories (until you lose another 20 pounds / 40 total) and then drop to 1900 calories (until you lose another 20 pounds / 60 pounds total) and so on until you've reach the optimal calorie level for goal weight. You won't feel as deprived by weaning down calories and can keep your body at optimal energy level.

NOTE:

If you exercise in addition to watching what you eat, you can modify your calorie intake accordingly. For example, if you're eating a 1500 calorie diet and burn 464 calories on the Elliptical trainer, then you can eat those calories back to maintain the 1500 calories. Many people will notice they need to maintain at least 1500 calories because weight loss will stop even though watching diet and exercising; one of the reasons could be that your body needs that fuel to continue losing weight! 4 Day Detox Diet, 4 Day Metabolic Diet, 4 Day Fat Blast Diet to lose 7 pounds a week!

I'm not an advocate of "dieting". I believe in making long term healthy changes for weight loss and fitness goals. This works best for most of us.

On the other hand, being overweight damages the body and self-esteem. If you have struggled with your weight and portion control for a long time, then Skinny Fiber and a great diet plan can really help get your weight loss started. This is especially true for bodies struggling to lose weight because of toxins or metabolic issues.

For example, I have a customer that has been overweight all of her life. She had weight loss surgery and is still struggling with her goals. Despite her best efforts, she is losing weight VERY slowly and it is frustrating for her. She came to me for advice and I initially suggested a cleansing diet of organic fruits and vegetables while taking her Skinny Fiber --- By eliminating what she is eating now and replacing it with a high fiber raw food diet, she could learn what is causing her not to lose weight by adding foods back one at a time. She could also do the "Fat Flush" and detox juicing for a while because this would help flush out years of toxins put into her body (aspartame, GMO and toxic processed foods) .

She was not too crazy about making a temporary raw food vegan change ... So, I suggested the following 4 Day Diet Plans for her to try. I lost an INSANE amount of weight with these meal plans BEFORE having our baby. I should have stuck with it - LOL.

I am posting the diet plans on this page for you.

They are designed to help you lose 7 pounds a week; "jump starts" weight loss for those who struggle with meal planing and portion control. DISCLAIMER: I do not guarantee that everyone loses 7 pounds a week - THAT is just what the doctors claim the plans do.


INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 4 DAY DIETS:

* Drink at least 1/2 your weight in ounces of water each day!

* Pick one of the plans and do it for the full 4 days.

* When you are done with one type of meal plan, do it again OR choose a different one.

* You can keep mixing them up and doing them until you are done.

NOTE: I used olive oil and spices when I did these diet plans.

4 Day Detox (Perfect for when you feel bloated)

This is a fiber rich meal plan. Dr. Michael F. Roizen, M. D., chief wellness officer at the Cleveland Clinic of Ohio. His study shows that increasing the amount of fiber-rich foods in your diet dampens the appetite and reduces caloric intake for up to 18 hours. The nutrient slows the absorption of fat and carbohydrates, stabilizes blood sugar, flushes fat-trapping toxins and bloat-inducing fluids from the colon. Research from the Stanford University School of Medicine suggests that this change provides up to 1,2000 different metabolically active enzymes - nutrients that nourish the liver and enhance it's ability to metabolize stored fatty acids for fuel by as much as 35%.

Sample 4 Day Detox Meal Plan

Upon waking in the morning:
8oz juice or lemonade (made with no more than 1 Tbsp lemon & 1 Tbp. stevia) with 1 Tbsp psyllium husk powder.

(NOTE: I suggest taking Skinny Fiber instead of using Psyllium Husk powder. Provides less bloat and has other benefits from the ingredients.

Breakfast:
Bowel of high-fiber cereal with 1/2 cup almond milk
1 cup of coffee w/ 1 tsp stevia and 1 tsp low fat milk (almond, coconut, etc).

* Eat oatmeal or chia seed cereal instead of boxed processed cereals (no Kelloggs, Kashi, etc)

Snack:
1 serving fiber-rich fruit of your choice (i.e. apple, pear, 1 cup raspberries).

Lunch:
Unlimited raw vegetables with 3/4 cup low-fat hummus; 3 cups mixed greens with 1 Tbsp low-fat salad dressing (you can make a vege dressing = fat free).

* The key here is UNLIMITED vegetables - Your stomach and body will love you for this!!!

Snack:1 cup fresh berries.

Dinner:
2 cups green vegetables like spinach or kale sauteed with garlic and onions, served on a bed of 1 cup brown rice.

* You can use Quinoa instead of rice or make Cauliflower rice (can double the portion for cauliflower rice)!

Dessert:
1 raw apple, sliced and sprinkled with 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and stevia to taste.

4 Day Metabolism Boost (Perfect for when you feel extra hungry)

According to Dr. Smith at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital (Research Dept), this metabolic plan is a protein packed cycle that supplied your body cells with amino acids that stimulate the formation of metabolizing lean muscle tissue. The hospital proves that protein-rich eating doubles cellular metabolic rate for 2 hours each meal, plus reduces the caloric intake.

Sample 4 Day Metabolic Boost Meal Plan

Breakfast:
2 eggs, any style; 2 pieces Canadian bacon or turkey bacon; 2 cups coffee with 1 tsp of stevia and 1 tsp milk per cup.

Snack:
1 apple; 1 small protein shake with 200 calories or less

Lunch:
4 oz turkey on bread or romaine lettuce as bread; 1 cup steamed vegetable of your choice (broccoli recommended)

* Make sure this sprouted bread or whole grain bread because it's healthier than Enriched whole wheat. It should be made with whole grains - low carb and gluten free are ok if you need.

Snack:
1 cup raw vegetables like carrots, celery and bell pepper slices with 1 tbs low-fat or fat free vege salad dressing.

Dinner:
4 oz lean-sirloin steak; 1/4 cup of lentils and brown rice seasoned as desired; 1 cup roasted asparagus.

Dessert:
1 cup mixed berries.

4 Day Fat Blast (Perfect for when you feel especially tired)

During this cycle, you will minimize the intake of complex carbohydrates like beans and grains. This depletes your body's storage of glycogen - long chain carbohydrate molecules that the muscles and liver burn instead of stored fat). Dr. Smith and researchers at UCLA found that this meal plan depletes stored muscle glycogen up to 50% in the first 24 hours, allowing cells to metabolize the deeper fat stores in the belly, hips and thighs. This increases fat loss (and energy levels by 25 percent in four days).

Sample 4 Day Fat Blast Meal Plan

Breakfast:
6 oz low fat plain yogurt with fresh berries.

Snack:
2 cups raw carrots.

Lunch:
1 large salad with 3 oz grilled chicken, unlimited vegetables and 3 Tbs low fat salad or vege dressing; 1 1/2 cup non-creamy soup like minestrone or chicken noodle soup.

Snack:
Fresh fruit smoothie under 200 calories (Blend 1 banana, 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp natural bran in blender until smooth).

* Just good old fashion PLAIN Greek yogurt is the best.

Dinner:
5 oz lean sirloin steak; 2 cups steamed vegetables like broccoli, carrots and peppers.

Desserts:
2 cups fruit salad made with berries, melon and apples.

Which Diet Plan Works Best?
All of the meal plans worked for weight loss, but the very 1st diet plan ("4 Day Detox") ended up being the best for my body and is still close to how I eat now (kept as part of healthy lifestyle changes). I just don't eat the brown rice and I take Skinny Fiber because it helps with appetite control and does not bloat me like Psyllium Husk did.
